Standards for Smart Cities

“By 2050 cities are projected to house around 70% of the world’s population. International Standards help these urban areas to become more connected, more sustainable and to cope with this growing and ageing population.”

Kevin McKinleyActing ISO Secretary General

IEC, ISO and ITU’s International Standards have come together to create global standards for the creation of smart cities. The smart city concept typically refers to the use of technology to sense and analyze conditions, network people, things and other resources to obtain intelligence and improve performance of energy, safety, environmental, communications, government and other systems for a safer, healthier, more productive and more convenient urban life.
